Below are inspiring stories of how Money Mama and Prosperity4Kids
are being used to make a difference in the lives of children and
adults
I love success stories and I created this page of
ideas that children and adults have sent me through email. I believe
this will
empower more kids and adults to believe that anything you put your
mind to is possible!
The stories below were very inspiring to me one is about a woman
named Nancy who gave not only her time, but generosity and belief in
what is possible for children. The other story is about a little
10-year old named Moni from Sweden, who has been inspired by
Prosperity4Kids ideas and resources, and applied them in her
own life, by starting her own business around what she is passionate
about. Our final story is about a mom who was inspired to start her
own company and is doing awesome!
I hope these stories will inspire you and your kids to believe
in your self, follow your dreams and as 'Nike' says, "Just do It!"
P.S. You can be on this page too! Just send me your story!
Nancy
Miller from Rejoices Ministries
Nancy (below) contacted me over the summer about teaching a class to
a group of inner city kids.
Dear Lori,
“This is a summer program of Rejoices Ministries, a dance and
worship class for inner city children. The ministry is the work of
one very gifted and dedicated woman to teach arts in the inner city.
This is an expansion for additional summer activities for a larger
audience. Several of her associates are creating unique summer
classes to keep the kids involved.
After finding your website, and Money Mama I
volunteered to create a class for teaching the kids about money and
creating wealth. I feel confident that this will be life-changing
learning.”
Dear Lori ,
"The class with my 26 inner city kids is going so very well. The
scavenger hunt for coins was a great jump-start to their
enthusiasm. They are really participating and learning. They loved
your kids reading the book, especially the cha-ching. They all
started chiming in at the appropriate time with the arm action
pulling the lever - Cha -ching!!
I found a great children's music CD to add in, with songs like
"Change adds up!" We sang and danced to it, and they got it...that
little things that seem insignificant, like pennies can grow to
nickels etc. They really wanted to take their books home, but
understand they will get the book and Money Mama Bank when they
"graduate". We made Dream Books for each child per the information
in Design Your Child's Financial Future and they loved them!
Thanks so much for making my job so easy and rewarding.
But, most of all, thank you for writing this material in a way that
will change these little lives forever."
Blessings,

Moni's Muffins
This is ‘Monique’ or ‘Moni’ for short, I received an email from her
mom or ‘mum’ that lives in Sweden. Moni has started a little
business called “Moni’s Muffins” I have not had a taste yet but from
the pictures these little homemade muffin’s look delicious!
Moni is only 10 years old, but she has accomplished so much in her
time on earth and I attest that to her mum for teaching her values
and allowing her to explore and try new things.
Moni wanted money and got tired of asking her parents for money, her
sister needed to raise money for her school and Moni’s mind started
thinking.
She wrote me to tell her story, which was so heartwarming, that I
asked if I could interview her and then pass her story on for the
world to see.
Hi Moni, what would you like the world to know about you? I
would like the world to know I am quite smart and I love to bake
muffins
What other businesses did you try before Moni’s Muffins?
I tried candles, but it wasn't that popular, I did a lemonade stand
and that didn't work so well either.
How did you come up with the idea of Moni’s Muffins? And how did
you take this idea and make it your own, example, changing the
ingredients, name ect.
One day my mum was baking muffins and I thought I could do that
too. It took me a few goes to learn how to make them just right and
then I changed the recipe tomake different types of muffins. My
nickname is Moni, so Moni’s Muffins sounded good.
What is your goal with Moni’s muffins?
To get a few kids happy by helping them with a Llama, to have some
money myself and eventually make other things too, like aprons and
things.
How do you feel differently now then you did before you started
your business?Very
Happy! I feel I can do things myself now. I can help other people
and I don't need to ask mum and dad for any money and I meet lots of
people.
If you had once piece of advice for another kid, what would that
be?
If you have a dream then ask your parents or a relative to help you
get started. That might be money or just help to get you going, and
then you are in business. If you are baking muffins, make sure the
kitchen is clean, you have your hair tied back, and your hands are
clean. When you sell, make sure you are dressed nice, neat, and
tidy. It is important to look good and not scruffy and be polite to
people.
You can also make your own blog and logo or if you do muffins like
me, you can email me and be part of Moni’s Muffins Club.
With the money you get you should donate some, put some money back
in to your ingredients, save some and spend some.
What would you like to ask our readers to do for you and how can
they help?
I know most of you aren't in Sweden, so you can help me help other
kids and donate to World Vision.
Keep watching my blog, as later I will add things that you can order
like aprons. I have also set up a donation page, which you can click
on from my blog and help me raise money for World vision for a
Llama. For parents, trust your kids can do things, because they can!
Lori:
I bought the "Money Mama & the 3 Pigs" bank, plus the CD, and
storybook, a couple of months after my son, Peter James
Kolostian, was born. He is now 2 1/2 years old and loves them.
When I say "let's put in some
coins," he say "Coins!" and gets real excited. I bring out the
bank and sit down on the living room couch. I give him a coin,
and tell him which slot to put it in. Each time he does so, he
gets the biggest smile. You'd be very proud to see it!
Your startup has inspired my
wife. She started a company that makes rubber stamp sets with
the logos of USC and UCLA. She has done very well, thanks in no
small part to your inspiration and example.
I just built her a website for
her company, including links to helpful sites, one of which is
Prosperity4Kids.
This is a perfect result of your
encouragement to take action and pursue your dreams.
Thank you so much for teaching
kids (including my son) financial education and savings at a
very early age. You will have a greater positive impact than you
will ever know.
Sincerely,
Richard Kolostian

"Spa
on Foot"
This is a great time to encourage your kids
to start earning some money for the
holidays. Below is a great kids business,
which I have not heard of before! It has no
start-up cost and has flexible hours.
Hi Lori, I read your book DESIGN YOUR
CHILD'S FINANCIAL FUTURE with my daughter
(she's 10). So, over the summer, she started
her own business of massaging because there
were some games she wanted and her allowance
didn't quite cover the cost. She's at the
perfect weight to walk along one's back for
the perfect massage. She made a sign as well
as frequency cards for each customer. Buy 7
massages, get one free. Each massage is
$0.50 per 5 minutes (of course, mom and dad
gets a discounted rate). She made enough
money to purchase her game in no time at
all. Now that she's back in school, her
services are only available in the evenings
(when homework has been completed) and
weekends. She was really enthusiastic about
her own business and is always thinking of
new ways to make more money. Thanks for the
book! We love it and read it over and over
again for more ideas and guidelines on how
to make our child financially independent.
This is a picture of Kristen with her sign
she made to promote her business. She even
made a jingle that goes like this:
If your back hurts and the spas to far Then
just call Kristen Escobar Night or Day, rain
or shine, I'll come just about any time. If
you call, you will see No one can beat our
low, low fee.
Yeah, Kristen Escobar, spa on foot!
We made an actual video, but the file would
be too large to send.
Thanks Lori! Sincerely, Karen Escobar
This
is one of my favorite pages! I have many more stories that I will be
putting up weekly!
